Walking to school

Since January, we have explored different ways of getting to school - walking, driving on rainy days, and even cycling. The tricky bit about cycling is, at pick up time. Hannah is always too sleepy or grouchy to get on the bike to pick gor gor from school. So I thought the safest way is to walk, both ways. And walking has many advantages too, first, it's a good exercise for the day, to work out the lunch, then we talk a lot more on the way to school. He often blurts out things which he would not have mentioned otherwise. On the bike, he couldn't talk , and in the car, the journey's too short. So ive decided to walk more. What I love most is the goodbye. We would kiss each other on the cheeks at the gate. He wouldn't mind who's looking and who's around, I would bend down and we would do our mother and son intimate thing. I love it. I would wish him a good day at school, watch his back as he walks in, and he would turn around a couple of times to wave again and before he turns a corner and disappear, he would turn round and give his one last wave. These are memories I wouldn't want to forget and this is my son, I love and nurture.
