24 July 2016

24th July 2016 Hannah is 7 years old. It has been a wonderful 7 years with you in the family. You have added so much joy and laughter into our lives with your cheerful smiles, sweet singing voices and contagious laughter. Sometimes, you could laugh unstoppable for quite a few minutes, making us all laugh along with you. This year, you achieved a significant milestone. You started primary 1. You had little difficulty adjusting to new school life. Besides being rushed in the wee hours of the morning to wake up and have breakfast, which you complained little of, you did everything so well- getting your bag packed for school, getting the bag unpacked with your homework and letters to sign when you return from school each day, remembering what to bring, like a rag for VIA days, and religiously writing in your handbook all that you need. You are a keen learner, and always have been since you started school at Appletree school when you were just 3. Sitting up straight in class, and eyes always fix on teacher and absorbing all the teacher was teaching. You would sing me the songs you learn in class and tell me who has behaved and who has not, who got their names written on the board. You have done well in your semester 1, scoring band 1 for everything. You are an achiever because you listen and learn so well in class. That’s a talent God has blessed you with and I hope you will keep it well. At home, you are mummy’s good helper. You volunterarily washed the dishes after meals, help me wash the vegetables sometimes, and eager to tidy up and wipe your room, toys and photo frames for me during housework days. You can do much! Hanging clothes, and folding some. What I enjoy a lot is when you are willing to accompany me when I go jogging downstairs in your skate scoot. I hope you will continue to enjoy being with me doing sports together. You are always happy to swim with me too, even if I make you do some laps before free play, you never say no to swim. That’s great because mummy always loved swimming since I was a little girl, and I think I swam a lot with popo too. You still enjoy me singing to you at bedtime, and we will do our usual exchange of kisses and saying ‘I love you’’sleep tight’’sweet dreams’’ ‘don’t let the bed bugs bite’. I enjoy all these moments and will cherish them forever! We bought you little hamsters this yr in Jan and you’ve been taking good care of them, especially ‘fatty’ which is not so fat actually. It just moves quite slowly and looks cute, so ‘fatty’ kinda of suit it. I hope they live longer than expected and won’t break your heart when they do die one day. I thought you are so brave to grab fatty by your hand and swing it up and down sometimes, and terrors daddy behind his back. None of us actually held him like that at all. You are the true owner of this pet hamster. We had a birthday party for you this year at our function room. You invited 10 names and 5 came, and you were happy enough. We used the same decoration board, and invested in some helium balloons this yr. I baked choc chip muffins and we had some grapes and nuggets to serve your guests. We did tattoo, hair beading, rainbow loom, and played some games, like passing the parcel with riddles Nathan had prepared, hide and seek and follow the leader. We planned a few more games but there was too little time to play them all. You said you enjoyed the free play time most. I guess it’s enough to just have your friends over, and chase each other mindlessly around, instead of planning games? Most importantly, you had fun, it’s your birthday and we just tried to make it special for you. We bought you a board game you requested ‘life’’ and you’re still waiting for me to play with you, though you have played a couple of rounds with Nathan already. Soon, your number will be crawling up to 2 digits, and I’m just enjoying your growing up moments. I hope you stay child-liked for as long as you will, and put your hope in Christ alone.
