Mission trip Dec 9-17

This was our second mission trip together as a family of four.

There were many learning points to take home from this trip.

God showed me what it means to see God's work done in God's way for his Glory. His divine appointment was evident in many situations.

Firstly, how the mix of the team came together. Our team made up of 14 people, including 5 children from 2 families. We were very different from one another, our background, and perhaps our preconceived ideas about mission trips. But all things worked together for good through Christ, he made us one in Him. With much prayer, we trusted God to unite us and He is faithful till the very end. Philippians 2:3-4 " Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,.Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." That was an apt verse we earnestly prayed for one another.

We were also  apprehensive about the involvement of the children. We prayed that they would be willingly involved in the activities we planned, especially at the 2 kindergartens we were scheduled to visit. And thankfully, the kids had great fun helping out.  We taught some children songs to the kids, told the story of creation with picture cards on cardboard, played games, decorated animal masks and finally, blew out smiley faced balloons and applied temporary tattoos on their hands. We took up the entire 2 hrs we were allocated and time just flew by when we were actively and joyfully involved with the kids.

During the trip, God has also reminded me time and again from Isaiah 55:8-9 " His thoughts are not my thoughts, his ways are not my ways. " I was amazed and grateful at the way he brought people along my path. This trip was not all work and no play. In fact, we worked and we played a lot too. We had plenty of opportunities to sit down for conversations over tea and meals. Every meal turned out to be yet another heart felt sharing with a fellow believer. Stories of conversion, the call to serve, and God's opportune timing to bring healing and rescue were told. These stories brought my heart to bow down before our Saviour as I marvel at the wonderful works of his faithful and powerful hand over the people He loved.

I am deeply moved as I witnessed with my own eyes and ears at the love shared among the workers in the field. Truly, they were compelled by the love of God to serve him in a difficult and foreign land. There is nothing that is impossible with God who has called us out of darkness and into his wonderful light. We pray, let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done. We want to see his souverign work accomplished in this land through contrite hearts and willing hands.
