Nathan's thoughts on the Korea holiday

First day- We boarded korean Air to korea. We checked into our Air BNB but when we got into the house, we realised that someone was already staying inside! The owner of the house had given us the wrong room number. In the end, we ate dinner somewhere while my father called the owner to resolve the problem. Luckily, the owner of the house also owned the unit next door so we went to that house. However, that was not the end of our problems. While I was having my shower in the bathroom, I noticed that a few of the wall tiles were loose. I tried to push them back into the wall but to no avail. The next moment, two tiles fell onto the ground. 😱Only some bits and pieces of plaster remained stuck to the wall. It was gross. Upon further inspection of the house, we realised that the TV was not working and the beds were dusty. Fortunately, the bed and Air-Conditioning had no problems. I was very happy to have a queen-sized bed all to myself!😏

Second day- I was rudely awakened by a car horn blasting at 6am in the morning. I rubbed my eyes and realised that the sky was already quite bright. It was quite noisy in the early morning around our house as I would occasionally hear people talking or vehicles moving.  I ate nutella on toast in the mornings. My father said we were going to the war museum that day. At the museum, I saw many unique designs of old planes and ships. I took photos with some rockets and even a ship, famously known as the 'Turtle ship' used in a battle against the Japanese. Next, we went to Goto mall. It was a huge shopping centre selling rows of women's items. However, as my family walked through the mall, we realised that out of 20 shops, there would only be 1 or 2 men shops.😞 My mum had a whale of a time as things there were of bargained value. She bought lots of different items such as jewellery, dresses and more. From our two hours of walking at the mall, my father and I only bought a t-shirt each. We had one last destination in mind. We went to a traditional village where my mother and sister dressed up in the traditional Korean costume. My sister also had the experience of feeding a falcon some bits of meat. She was rather brave to let the sharp beaked falcon sit on her arm.

Third day- We cycled in the morning. My parents rode the regular  bikes while my sister and I rode on four-wheeled bikes.carts. I found it relaxing as I didn't need my hands to steer the wheel at some parts. We went to Meong Deong. Ate porridge for lunch. Then, it was time for the long awaited NANTA.πŸ™‰ Even though it was my second time watching the performance, I still enjoyed it wholeheartedly. It was still as hilarious as ever. There were new parts added into the show like the dumpling challenge. My sister and I could not stop bursting with laughter at some parts of the show. We also went to cat cafe. We had western food (my favourite) for dinner that night -pizza and cheesy pasta.

Fourth day- last day in Seoul. We went to a palace in the morning. We stood under the hot sun and watched some korean men wearing the traditional costume pretending to be army generals or something. We left 10 minutes later as we found it too hot and boring.😎 We watched JUMP show at night. The actors did many incredible stunts. Some parts of the show were slapstick humor, however it was not as good as NANTA. After the show, we ate dinner at a place where we cooked BBQ pork. We learned how to fry the pork on hot stones. The pork was delicious! It was the yummiest dinner ever.

Fifth and sixth day- We took the train to Busan. It took us about 3 hours to get to Busan. I watched through the train's windows as the busy city soon vanished and the countryside emerged. After a long journey, we finally arrived in Busan. We took a taxi to our new Air-bnb in hope of a better home. Fortunately, that air-bnb did not let us down except there were no butter knifes and limited towels. My room didn't have an air-conditioning but provided me with a fan.πŸ˜“ We took a 45min taxi ride to a beach - the longest stretch of beach in whole of Korea. There were many big rocks there and my family had fun scaling the rocks. We took many pictures at the coast.

The last few days in Jeju- We flew to Jeju. The air-bnb there was the best. It had everything we needed. There were two storeys with a triangular rooftop. It even had a pool table and a ping-pong table, plus it had a TV which was actually working. Every night, we would have the ping-pong challenge. We even watched 3 shows on the TV Netflix. Black Panther, Ant-Man and MIB. Upstairs, I placed a stuff polar bear at the top of the stairway to stand guard.πŸ’ͺ The first day we arrived, we collected our car from the rental shop. The steering wheel was on the left hand side so my father had a little trouble getting used to it. After that, we drove to a crater park. We climbed a short hill and took pictures of the gargantuan crater.
We also went for an ATV excursion. The guide made us wear a mask and a motorcyclist helmet. It was really hot and stuffy. Halfway through the uneven terrain, part of my helmet fell off and I drove into a thick bush. I had to be rescued.
On the third day, we went to Maze Land, there were 3 mazes inside. I would team up with my sister against my father as we tried to find the exit. My sister and I always won cause we found ways to cheat.(haha) πŸ‘…One maze was so difficult that we took more than 40 mins to find the exit. We seemed to go round in circles, hopelessly lost. The mist effect decreased visibility almost to zero. But in the end, we managed to get out.
Other things we did in Jeju was to swim in the sea.πŸ’§ There were two big pools near the sea where many locals and tourists swam. The waves were crashing against the rocks and the water was freezing. My father and I had a great time swimming or rather floating in the icy sea. Some brave souls attempted jumps from a high rock into the cold sea.πŸ‘
Among the 3 places we visited in Korea, Jeju was the best!
During this trip, some of these were my first experiences, such as having BBQ pork, eating ginseng chicken soup with rice wrapped within the chicken thigh, swimming in the coastal rocky cliffs, cycling on a 4-wheeled cart, staying in a pent house, and watching JUMP show.
