I choose to see my life as a series of celebrations - of life, with new births, of death, knowing my destiny in heaven, of what my child can do and not what he cannot do yet, of sacrifices and pains and treating each incident as a learning experience.

Scope 2 July 2024
2 july , first appointment to consult the gastro specialist at SGH. I went after school, arrived at 330pm, and saw the doc at 4pm, told him briefly about my condition, said I want to do a scope, and he agreed without further questioning. That consult was barely 10mins, I regretted not preparing more questions to ask, but I was also surprised he didnt probe much. Waited another 30mins for the nurse to give me instructions to prep for the scope, a bunch of laxatives and list of do and don't. Consult fees amounted to $176, as a private patient cos I selected the doctor of my choice and didnt go through poly referral.
3 days before scope, I had to prepare my stomach. I ate only white, like white toast, kuey tiao, rice, porridge mainly. I was feeling hunger pants all the time, cos of a no fibre diet. I couldnt drink my favourite milo, nor eat my oats or yogurt with granola which I missed for 3 whole days.
On Monday, 8 July, my last dinner, which was fish porridge was taken before 6pm. At 7 pm, I started my bowel prep. That was the hardest part. I had to drink 1L of water mixed with a packet of fortrans (laxatives). I walked about the house, and trined to drink it down cup by cup. No feeling of pee or poo. Then, the second packet at 8pm. Finally, the feeling came. The first flush of the bowels. Just lots of water, and air came out of the anus. When I managed to gulp down the last cup at 9pm. I was relieved, first part of prep done.
After a few more toilet runs, I retired to bed, hoping no more flushes and thankfully, managed to sleep throuhh most of it until alarm rang at 5am to wake for breakfast,my last meal. I had 2 white toast, eaten without water, slowly, using the saliva to dissovle itand swallow. At 6pm, I started my 3rd packet with 1L of water. Surprisngly, drank it pretty quickly, guess I had adjusted to the volume and taste, but mostly because my stomach was quote empty by then. I dont see any poo, just water tinted with yellow or brown. Final litre at 7pm,
