Hannah is 4

Time flies, and we've just celebrated Hannah's 4th birthday. Every year, we have a little something different. First yr was with only family at Earle's swensens at Vivo city and we had our first and only ice cream birthday cake. Second birthday was celebrated at home with close friends and we even had a colour team - YELLOW. I attempted a strawberry mini mouse cake which turned out terribly sweet with the frosting. Third birthday was at Bouncing kids playground, also with closer friends, and I ordered a minimouse cake from Bengawan solo instead of baking. This yr, we almost forgo the idea of having a home baked cake and order a strawberry shortcake character cake from Prima Deli. I woke up Friday Morning and decided I would bake a chocolate cupcake, a tried and tested one, one that I know she would like and eat it. We sent out invites to church mates and class mates. We had a total of 16 kids! It turned out to be quite a party. My last minute discovery of royal icing turned out the way I wanted, I tried pipping the frosting for my very first time. It worked. I was relieved and felt a great sense of achievement. Hannah helped put the fairies and pink buttons on the frosted cake. This year, she helped alot, gave me ideas for games and activities, and helped to cut out cookies and decorate her own birthday cake. The process was very enjoyable and meaningful for mother and daughter. I was gald I decided to bake my own cake. We bought in a variety of food items like chicken wings, fishball and teo chew kueh from Tiong Bahru market, egg tarts, sandwiches with nutella and peanut butter, a platter of fruit. A very colourful display of food. We had cookie decoration. I baked some cookies, and they frosted it with pipping tubes, and sprayed thousands and ones, and M&M chocolates. Sandart was a big hit too, they were so quiet, concentrating with their art work, and I had to disturb them to start games! We played blow wind blow, hide and seek, duck and goose chase, pin the princess. Whoa, it was fun for me! Finally, it was cake blowing. The onlt regret was we didn't take any family photo with the banner and cake stand before everyone gathered. We sang 3 songs for her, and the kids couldn't wait to grab one cupcake each. That was truly funny. Everyone wanted a fairy on it. Those cute little angels. It was all well and smooth. We planned to swim but we had too much fun indoors, and no one brought any swim wear. I was too exhausted by the end of the party. Unfortunately, my dear girl fell ill the next day with loose stools, and a slight fever on tuesday morning. I hope she has some fun at school on her actualy birthday. I planned to dress up in rainbow overalls and her rainbow rain boots and the cutest hairdo ever! Dear Lord, please heal her tummy, so she'll be strong to go to school on wednesday. Amem.
