I choose to see my life as a series of celebrations - of life, with new births, of death, knowing my destiny in heaven, of what my child can do and not what he cannot do yet, of sacrifices and pains and treating each incident as a learning experience.

Nathan’s 9th birthday celebration
This year was a surprise. Nathan actually requested for a birthday party! So we discussed, from an East Coast cycle and picnic to a swim at a nearby Anchorvale Swimming complex on a Saturday morning. We invited some of our closest friends, including Jonah and Emma, Sara and Aidan, Daniel, Oliver. Others invited but couldn’t come, Gayle and Gabriel, Marcus and Deanna, Beth and Bethany. But he did have a splashy splendid time at the pool and slides, followed by his favourite meatball pasta at Pasta Mania, conveniently located at the CC!
Nathan has grown, not only physically, but stronger in personality and skills. He can cycle really well now, with one hand on bar for as long as possible, run pretty fast, quite good at badminton, able to hit to and fro with me at least 10 rounds, tried forest adventure, swims lengths with me, and always ahead of me despite his stops. Weighing a heavy 34kg and standing at 1.35m tall. I am a proud mummy.
Some old habits of his, wouldn’t try new food, still love pasta, only tomato ones, with meat, lots of meat, the redder the better, loves salmon and cod fish too, doesn’t mind anything else mummy cooks, like soup with chicken or fish. He has only bought from 2 stalls in his school canteen, chicken rice, and prata. He brings a packet of milk for recess everyday, sometimes with packed biscuits, other times with bread with peanut butter. His favourite breakfast is strawberry cereal, he thinks it’s the best cereal ever! Good for us that it costs only less than $4 a box which usually lasts him about a week and a half.
He enjoys playing a game of monopoly with his dad, sometimes with me. I think he likes it because he always wins with a lot of money. I never understood the fun of that game, so brainless it seems, but what will stop me from allowing some fun and laughter in the game? Board games bond, I totally agree.
I wished more of him for this and that, but I should be proud of what he can do. I should be content and thank God for his faithfulness in helping him learn everything! I am encouraged by his disciplined daily devotion time with God everyday. He will feel something is a mist if he skips one devotion and now Hannah is following in his footstep, which is really great! I am not half as disciplined as him in reading the bible and writing down my prayers. We are going to safe keep all of these prayer journals for a long long time. Praise the Lord.
