In a blink of an eye

Indeed, time flies, week by week, term by term, semester by semester, I’ve been teaching in st Hilda’s for coming to 4 years! I started in 2019 when Hannah was in Primary 4, a year after we’ve moved from Sengkang and possibly adjusted to a new neighbourhood in Bedok and Tampines.

I’ve got my favourite market to buy chicken at Bedok and another round market to buy pork in Tampines. There are several nice places to eat, like refuel at Bedok reservoir village and Ban mee at Bedok hawker centre. I still cook on most days.

On a typical school day, I would return home from sch and cook lunch. I would prepare a porridge or soul in the thermal pot and just boil some noodles or airfry meat to finish off. Take an hour of afternoon nap, wake up, swim, then prepare dinner again.

Teaching p1-2 has hardly any work brought back to mark except for writing packages about 4 a term.

Primary 2 joy

This class is lovely, no special cases except for talkative characters especially the boys. I enjoy telling them news, that’s also when they’re most attentive. They are friendly to one another too, so we hardly have any fights or disagreements. A couple of Christian families. They like movements in class. We carried out a few projects that they loved, like making blue pea flower drink, growing green bean plant, hatching butterflies from cocoon, bringing seashells and all kinds of shells for life in a shell. This class has supportive parents and they like to contribute and show case what they have. That made the typical stellar lessons more interesting.

I have also changed my seat from third floor to second, working with a team of mostly Christian Teachers. It’s a quieter and private corner which I enjoy very much. I bring a pot of yogurt to eat everyday with some homemade granola. I do like buying from the stalls, and walking out just seems too hot these days.

Since daddy has to send girl to sch in the morning, I have started taking the public bus, and some days, I cycle too. I’ve got a green foldie that costs about $900! I’ve only used it less than 30 times, perhaps, trying to encourage daddy to cycle more. He still likes to jog more, like 2-3 times a week.

Our turtles have grown. Over 2 yes’m they grew from a tiny 50 cent coin to a large palm size now. We managed to find a large container from ikea  don’t know how long we can keep them there, 4 looks like a real squeeze. They are hungry all the time. Whenever I go out to water the plants or hang the laundry, they would scramble up to me and wants food. Their claws are so long now that they scratch me whenever I need to change the water.

June hols are here again, what a semester it has been. With the gradual opening up everywhere, everyone is looking forward to bigger gatherings, church going, dg meetings, visitations, and of course, travelling. We just bought tickets to Japan, Kyushu, southern island, in winter, hopefully we won’t be frozen but will have a good experience in a winter country for 10 days.

Now we’re just waiting when this mask wearing will also be removed. It’ll be a relief especially teaching in class. To a large extent, its a lot more hygienic on public transport and Hawker centres, at least at parks and exercising, we don’t need it any longer, even in restaurants , we don’t wear them during dining, but in trains and crowded places, it is a good new practice to have masks on at all times.
