We got the idea after watching 'Barney - making robots'.
I make an effort to think of something creative to do with the kids every friday - like a 'make something' friday thingy. So, I dug up all my 'collectibles' from the storage box and came out with this - making a robot with recycled materials.
We used tissue boxes for the head and body, paper towel rolls for the legs, and toilet rolls for the hands, straws for the anntena, and egg tray for the buttons on the front of the body. Foil to wrap it all up.
Easy, just some scissors and pen knife skills, and get the kids to do the inserting -of the rolls into the sides of the 'body'.
Then we ended singing the 'robot' song, with 'robot' moves and voices.... you can imagine the fun we had.
